This recipe will make your whole house smell wonderful!

Apple butter just has all the flavors of fall that I love. If you think it takes a long time to make a delicious apple butter from scratch you would be mistaken. If you give this recipe a try you can have apple butter in as little as 2 hours.

All it takes is a couple hours, and by the time you are done you will be ready for all the other fall time flavors!

Yield: approx. 16oz

Time: 2 hours

Ingredients:

3 pounds sweet apples

1/2 cup maple syrup

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

2 Tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions:
Peel, core and dice apples.

Combine diced apples, maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and lemon juice in a large pot. Stir to combine.

Cover and cook on medium heat for 30 minutes stirring occasionally.

Using a blender or emersion blender purée apple mixture until smooth.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour or until caramelized, stir every 5 minutes.

Once the hour has passed cool completely and store in refrigerator.

Notes: Any variety of apples will work but varieties such as gala will yield a sweeter result.

Notes: This recipe could be easily scaled up and canned.
